TDR Oil Tests

Just bought an 04 excursion 4wd with the 6. 0 Powerstroke. Found some oil in the hose connecting the intercooler to the intake. There is also signs of oil on the hoses from the turbo to the intercooler. Is this a leaking oil seal in the turbo or what. Its going to the dealer next week and I want to make sure they dont try to pull the wool over my eyes.

Believe it or not, thats perfectly normal on a powerstroke. Why? I dont know, but it was like that on my old 7. 3 and 6. 0. Alot of the guys on dieselstop.com report it also, and there isnt a problem with it supposedly.

Hows the rest of the engine/truck combo?

the PSD's have a crankcase breather setup that draws the CC fumes into the turbo to get burned in the engine [look for the ±3/4"hose in the piping between the air filter and the turbo] . . so a little oil in the charge air tubes is normal if your CC breather is still hooked up

So far so good though I havent driven it much. Im still a dodge/cummins man at heart but the mega cab needed a girlfriend! I want to change all the fluids, filters etc. before I turn my wife and three (soon to be four) kids loose in it. Thanks for the reply it makes me feel better knowing this is normal. I'm not looking to hot rod this thing but if any one wants to chime in on mods that would promote some longevity lets hear them. EGT/Boost gauges already in the plans.

good luck on that the filters are outrageous on the 6. 0s I used to be a dealers diesel tech and that sucked trying to explain to a farmer why his fuel filtrers were $60 and the oil was $35 and air was $100 they may be cheaper aftermarket tho
