Well, after serial highjacking of sticks' 6.4 Saga thread(thanks Sticks), I figured I'd start one. I got word yesterday that my truck was built(KZ), now waiting to get on the rail.
After being truckless since selling my CTD, I have to admit I am pretty pumped, at least as pumped as a crabby, old SOB can get:D

I'm sure you'll love your purchase.

I sold my truck a few months back because I was afraid it was going to grenade on me and I didn't want to pay to fix it. After looking into what I wanted to replace it with, we decided to sock away a few more dollars to put down on the new one. The new CTD trucks have gotten real expensive in 10 years!

I'm sure I'll be happy with the truck. I have already resigned myself to the fact that it won't pull with that locomotive torque of the CTD, but for 98% of my use it is the right truck for me.
It is hard to fathom how expensive trucks have gotten. A 2500 Tradesman gasser costs more than my '05 3500 SRW Laramie loaded CTD did.

I would be real interested in hearing your real world reports on the 6.4 engine. In our area it is about $1.40 difference in the price of gas/diesel fuel...... I tow a 8k travel trailer and the gas motor would probably suit me just fine if I were in the market for a truck.

That was very charitable of you! I am sure that you made the purchaser aware of all of your concerns with your truck and RAM trucks in general! Maybe you should buy a Ford or Chevy next time!

Snoking

Snowking - gods man. Step back, take a breath. First rule of being a consumer - buyer beware. Even if he did keep that info to himself, or even go as far as to lie about any known issues, it's still the buyers responsibility to check the vehicle out.

Wish I could have added more to the towing use of the Hemi. Only pulled a couple of minor loads, and it was fine. I was still able to keep up with traffic, but it was not exactly Mountain Driving either.

MPG sucks - period. Empty or towing.

I also miss torque that the Cummins has. The Hemi downshifts on even slight grades (rather annoying), and with slightly hilly driving, the cruise control will drop about 5 mph. It just can't hold the set speed. I am now that guy cruising down the highway that drops 5 mph on little inclines.

Something that I just noticed this winter - the front end tends to slide more with the lack of weight. Could be the tires, but there have been multiple times that have made left or right turns that the front end would just push straight. Even in 4wd. I don't recall ever having that problem with my '02. Relearn winter driving with this truck.

Plus side - warms up faster, no arguing with it when it's -15* outside, no cool down times when you get to a location to turn it off, and it horrifies me to say this - less crap under the hood to go wrong. This is my fond memories of the simple 1st and 2nd gen Diesel look.

The pushing front I think is the tires if you have the Firestones on there. My '04 Chevy had them and they were like driving on ice even in the wet. They were pretty sad tires. Fortunately, here in AZ we seldom see foul weather... except yesterday... so I am hoping I can put up with them until they are worn a bit

Holy Crap!!! Have they mobilized the National Guard???

Should be an interesting conversation with my mother today.......:D

It's hilarious! Everyone huffing and puffing like the end is near. I couldn't catch it with the camera but an ADOT Mack RD tandem went by with a big 'ol blade on it, just loaded for bear. LOL

And here in Denver CO, we don't put chains on until the bumper is pushing snow...and even then it's iffy. So long as we keep moving all is good.

Sticks when I was in Denver back in the winters for 69-70 and 71 going to school with NCR, the joke was to watch out when it snowed for license plates that started with A or B as those were Denervites and they did not know how to drive in snow. Back then it was "only the mountain people" that knew how to drive in snow! Snoking

Am I the only one who sees the irony of a Kitty Cat dealer in Arizona? :-laf

Get that comment all the time, but just like "Brand X" across town in MN, A-C is big in the dirt business with ATV, Prowler, and Wildcat. It's interesting that nobody says that about "Brand X", which also started as a snow company, yet both companies were started by Edgar Hetteen, and only a few years apart.

Yup The god ol days when Counties were ID'd by the first 2 letters of the license plate.

I still have my Summit County ZL plates (before the "Z" became a rental car fleet designation). Hanging on a wall, but I kept them.

They must be a bunch more popular down there then they are around here. Theres a ton of Kitty Cat sled dealers within a 100 mile radius but even they hardly carry any AC ATVs or side by sides. The ATV's have never caught on for various reasons and the Wildcat is just too big to do anything with around here. My cousin bought one while he was living in Wyoming with my mother, brought it with him when he moved back and I think he's rode it 3 times in the last 2 years. They're built for the wide open spaces not tight woods riding like we do out here. He's even tried selling it but hasn't had any luck either. The Trail Cat? Is a lot better suited for our tyoe of riding and I have seen a few of them around lately.

Wyoming still identifies their counties this way, and if I remember correctly their number (not letter) is based on population size. Been that way forever and hopefully won't change, every now and then I'll see a WY plate and look for the number to see if I recognize it. Spent a lot of years out there so I remember quite a few. Would love to be able to move back someday.

Jr, actually Wyoming's plate numbers are based on assessed county valuation in 1929. As a kid, I was always taught it was population, but that is in error. Several years ago, I looked into it, wondering why Sheridan County could be number 3. Here is a link to Phil Roberts's article on it.

Congrats.

Hopefully they don't leave her beached in rail yard for an eternity.

Thanks. With my luck the sucker will derail LOL. I am anxious to be back in a truck, but, to be honest, it took me so dang long to make a decision I can hardly complain about shipping times.
