Anybody laid eyes on a 6. 7 auto? I've got a couple of sticks around here, but no autos. Looking to buy before Jan 1.

I keep looking at the new 08 F450 because I need the capacity, but then I mosey over to the dieselstop and get a little reality check. I live with a little less capacity for a running truck. I hate being a first year guinea pig, but I have much more faith in Cummins getting it right than Ford.

Was at the *******'s last monday and got the best info yet from their end. The GM stated they expected two regular cab manuals any day, heres the relevance to your question though. An order for an auto that had been placed at the same time still didn't have a VIN. His take on the situation was the auto would be a late availabililty similar to the six speed manual in '99.

I drove a c&c a couple of days ago aisen trans, the power band is very bland, the shifts are very smooth and not easy to feel. Very little feel of acceleration. You almost have to watch the speedo to know you are accelerating. It is not slow, you just don't feel much.

I drove a auto liked it alot I agree acceleration was hard to feel but I did get the turbo to spool a little by holding the break and the tires broke over it has a lot of low end and the EXHAUST BREAK IS AWESOME

My cab and chassis is supposed to be ready for me to pick up tomorrow after lunch. It is one that has the Aisin trans. and e-brake. Hopefully I will be in town so I can go and get it. I won't be able to put it to work until Mon. or Tues. after I get it leased on to replace my present truck. I'll be commenting on how it performs in the near future.

Are you aware that you cannot get the Ram pickup with the 6. 7L and the 68RE 6 speed auto till after Jan 1, 2007? You can get the cab & chassis with the 6. 7L and the Asian 6 speed now. Since you post did not mention which truck and/or which 6 speed auto you are looking for, I thought I mention the above.

Sorry, should have clarified, yes I'm looking for the cab and chassis specifically. My 03 is getting ready for its second transmission, I can already feel it acting up again. Other than the transmission, which I knew about before I bought the truck, the truck has been ROCK solid. I'm also due for tires and brakes again, and with getting an aftermarket transmission installed, I figure I'll drop the $6-7K as a down payment instead of fixing a truck with 100k on it.

As for the ford, I can get cab size and carrying capacity in one truck. I wish somebody would slap DC management upside the head and tell them to either up the weight ratings of the 3500 mega cab or at least drop it on a true 4500-5500 chassis. I'm tired of waiting on dodge. I'll probably buy the 6. 7 dodge and not the ford, but it will be a close call. It might boil down to which one is in stock. The diesel stop scares the crap outa me everytime I'm there, but I can hope that ford realizes they lost thier butts on the 6. 0 and are going to the ends of the earth to to ensure a smooth launch of the 6. 4. Miracles do happen you know!!! :-laf

It is like you read my mind. I agree with every thing you wrote. I can live with the quad cab to get the cummins, but now at 15000 miles I had an injector stick open and fill the crank case with oil. I could have bought a FORD for that fun. That tow boss sure looks nice on the f350, 4 real size doors, and an 8ft bed. How hard is that for Dodge to figure out? :(

For me, its "live" with the QC I have now. I love the truck, but a mega cab would MUCH better suit my needs. But that pansy *****$ 2800lb payload capacity sucks. Lets make the biggest cab in the market, have the best engine (IMO), and then make it practically useless for 60% of our potential buyer. WtF was DC thinking, they FINALLY make a truck to compete with the competition and then cut the guts out of it. One pallet of tile in the bed and I'm illeagle. and forget hooking up a trailer if you've got more than a bail of hay in the bed.

The only reason I havn't switched already is the 6. 0. I'm seriously considering the 6. 4. I think if ford screws up this engine, they're history and they know it. Any amount of bad press could put them straight into bankruptcy, and they know that too. I'm predicting more teething pains than the cummins will have but nothing like the 6. 0.

I already tried to buy a F450 earlier this year but thankfully my wife filed for divorce Oo. and saved me from making a greater mistake than the marriage was... :-laf  :-laf :D
