If I buy a 6. 7 engine that was totalled from a engine fire is it possible to have it converted over to use 5. 9 ecm, fuel, air system. also is the head different and would my current auto bolt up. just something i was pondering because I have friends 08 6. 7 manuel truck that the exhaust pipe came loose at the turbo and caused the truck to be burnt up and totalled.

The engine block is the same with a few modifications, the cylinder bore is bigger on a 6. 7 liter than on a 5. 9 liter also the 6. 7 liter has a little bit longer stroke on the crankshaft. Also the cylinder head configuration is different. Even if you were just to use the engine block you would probably run in to fueling issues because of the change in the cylinder volume.

I beleive it has been done. There was one installed into a Ford. If it were a gasser you may have to worry about the fueling but not on a diesel
