6.7 OWNERS, Miles & Problems-Opinion

Hey, I have an '06 and a '96 Dodge, so I want yalls advise for a colleague at work:

I have a 2007 with the 6. 7L engine. About every 1600 miles the check engine comes on. Sometimes it shutters and quits sometimes just the light comes on. It has been to the shop 5 times in 4 months for the same problem. It presently has less than 9000 miles on odometer. I was looking for folks with a similar engine for their experience. This is my 4th dodge diesel. I had no problems with the others. This one has been a nightmare.

I suggested that the DPF is plugging up and there is a problem with the regeneration mode. Any help would be appreciated.

What has he had done the last four times? Sound like a new turbo may be in the works. I would also tell him to start talking about the lemon law with them and see if that gets them working on it a little harder.

I have over 50,000 Km on mine, it has the latest AU reflash and while I have had the Check Engine Light (CEL) I have NEVER gone into limp mode.
I drive as a courier (Hot Shot) running about 10K plus per month. I have NEVER been left stranded or without my truck. I am always on the road the same day. Currently we (the dealer and myself) are working at putting in a Spinner II bypass oil filter to reduce the soot contamination of the oil. I had a lot of reservations about buying a Chrysler product, however, I must admit this truck impresses me every day. The big Cummins never fails. The 68RFE is awsome.

What codes were there? Same codes each time? What flash level is the controller at? What repairs were attempted?
