just got my truck last week transmission great except the fact when going through town at 40 mph truck seems to be in to high of a gear unless i downshift. Also noticed today that exhaust pipe is rattling on the overload spring other than that a awesome truck compared to wifes 2005:)

Thats why I drive a Manual trans!!!! I DECIDE what gear it is in!!!:-laf :-laf I don't need no computer telling me where it should be!! LOLOLOLOL

With the new trans, you can still decide... just it shift manually.

Well yes and no, with the new 6-speed you can manually downshift, but you can't manually upshift.

ie I can make it so that the transmission will not upshift to 6th gear by setting it to "5", but that does not keep it from downshifting to "4" or "3" if the computer wants to.

You can manually upshift as well if you start out in 1 and tap the button up as you go. I do it every morning going down our driveway. You are right it will downshift automatically if it thinks it needs to but you can manually do it before that if you feel like it. It's definitely different than a manual transmission in that you can't select a single gear and make it stay in that one except for 1st or reverse.

You sure do!

DECIDE, clutch-in, shift, clutch-out, DECIDE, clutch-in, shift, clutch-out, DECIDE, clutch-in, shift, clutch-out, DECIDE, clutch-in, shift, clutch-out, DECIDE, DECIDE, DECIDE,... ... etc. ("Gonna pass this guy,... which gear?", "Here's a nice easy downgrade,... which gear", "Here's a steep descent, ... which gear to help out brakes with slow-down?", "Stop sign,... take 'er outa gear, save that throw-out bearing!")

Don't spend much time in crowded work-hour traffic either, do you? ;)

Seen many of those backed-up-over-the-horizon expressways around the big cities?

Been there, ... done that, ... not proud to wear the t-shirt.

I figure this terrific auto is gonna save me a BUNCH of decide-shifting. :)

"Control" can be nice, ... but sometimes delegating makes sense.

(Don't miss the manual spark-advance, either. )
