6.7L Block manufacture

I'm just curious. Where is the Cummins 6. 7L block (that's used in the RAM) manufactured? I think its manufactured at different sites around the world, just wanted to know where our Ram engine blocks were manufactured.

I'm pretty sure they're all made in Indiana.

I think they are just build in Indiana. The 5. 9 blocks were cast in either Mexico or Brazil. I believe the Mexican blocks were responsible for the infamous #53 block. I'd assume the 6. 7 blocks are cast in the same locations but I am guessing.

Nice article on the assmembly of the engine, but it doesn't really answer the OP's original question on block origin of manufacture. In fact, the article states that the blocks are cast "off site", but no mention of where said site is. There is another recent thread on TDR indicating the blocks are cast in China, can't speak to the truthfullness of such, however. The fact that the article (and/or cummins) avoids mentioning it, probably lends credibility to the China thread.

I saw that same post and that's why I asked the question. I had read all the above info but never came across the actual casting/manufacturing location for the 6. 7L block.

I've visited the Cummins MREP at Columbus, IN. I'm pretty confident the blocks are not cast there.

In regards to your question, when I was on the tour at the Columbus mid range engine plant our guide told me the blocks were made in China. He was a knowledgable fellow and had been with Cummins for some time. I have every reason to believe he was telling me the truth.



I would love to find proof that contradicts what he told me but yet I have not found any.



One thing to remember is Cummins sets the specs, does the final assembly and even some teardowns on tested engines. I think they are making the best product they can, just as they have always done. Hopefully they learned something with the 53 block fiasco.

That's what I've read as well, only indirect references to non-USA manufacturing of the block, but nothing that nails it down.

Cummins, Inc. is probably not real proud of Chi Comm sourced engine blocks but I'm sure they are using quality control inspections to avoid inferior quality.

I was thinking the same thing. Cummins may not be overly excited about identifying where the block is made because its not made in the USA. It might also be sourced from several different locations (India, China, Brazil, Mexico..... ).
