Diesel Lowering In Price

Nothing other than the box and label on the filter. The filters are made by Fleetguard (a division of Cummins) and branded differently.

I am confused as to why the Fleeguard filter is almost double the cost of the Mopar. It's usually the other way around.

Call your dealership today and price the OEM fuel filter.

We changed one on an '08 about two weeks ago at the S&S Tire in Lexington, KY (where I work) and we were charged almost double (around $22 vs $12) for the OEM fuel filter from Freedom Dodge in Lexington.

When I called back to talk to the parts salesman, the only answer he could give me was "we just experienced a price increase I guess" and when I said "You mean a nearly 100% price increase?" he still could not come up with any better answer.

If you guys have dealers selling the OEM filters in the $12 to $14 range, buy all you can... ...

Greg

**EDIT**

Just found in another post from 10/19/07

$11. 81; list price is $15. 75 Chrysler p/n 5183410AA.....

Geno's is the best price I have seen on that filter, and the guys are nice to do business with, so buying anywhere else is not even an issue.

I agree on the fuel filters. Genos is great to do business with.

I have only ever found one other place that will beat them on oil and fuel filters and thats only when I buy a large amount.

I have replaced mine 3 times and the first one I bought I thought the dealer quoted me wrong ... $22... . i thought that was cheap. So I told him to give me 4 of them. Naturall I took the old one apart and it seems you can remove and replace just the element. When I got mine it was complete housing water sensor ,wires the whole thing ... . $22... What???Well i wonder if you can service just the element and if you could buy just the eleeant from fleetguard?

When your copy of TDR Issue 62 arrives, look at the highlighted area on page 41. The element isn't available and not designed to be serviced separately.

Also the Mopar filter kit was mis-priced in the Chrysler replacement parts price list.

Bill

Thanks ... . I just could not believe the incredible deal I was getting on those things ... I should have bought everyone I could have. I honestly figured around $60. 00 ... . am I close ???

Geno's Garage

Geno's Garage had about 500 in stock. They just sat on the shelves for months. They think folks couldn't believe the price and were wary about buying them.

In the last week, they've sold out.

They reordered this week, and their COST more than doubled. That's why last week they were selling at Geno's for $13. 95 and this week they're selling for $27. 95. The Fleetguard part number is now less than the Mopar by about $2. 00.

That's the scoop.
