Would like to know if there is any diffrence or change`s in 2007. 5 6. 7L Diesel motor compared too 2012 6. 7L Diesel motor ? and What year did they start putting the regeneration exhaust systems on the trucks? Thanks Scott

All 6. 7L engines have the exhaust emissions and EGR. Only change I know of is the introduction of the HO 6. 7(800ftlbs) with the auto trans and the change in the fuel filter housing design for 2010.

Didn't Cummins install a higher rated thermostat in the later trucks? I think I read some where they now are starting to open about 10 to 15 deg higher than the 07. 5 to 09 trucks did. This was to help with the emissions so they would run a little hotter than the older 6. 7L trucks did.

Jim, I believe you are correct. I remember hearing something about that as well and also that you should not interchange them either.

I think overall the engines are pretty much the same except for a few minor changes.
