Quad cab conversion to full Crew cab?

Quick Question on Wiring LEDs

Was wondering if anyone has put one of these under the passenger seat? The 6" tube should fit nicely under the seat. Just looking for a way to get a little more bass out of the stock system without losing the rr storage area.

Cheers,

Dave

What would you load it off? Unless they changed them in last few years, you had to load them 3 to 4 inches from a corner or wall. If you didn't, they were pretty lame.

I have two of these, under the back seat. For the money spent and the time involved in installing them they do well. I'm driving mine with about 100 watts RMS.

Sorry I can't provide any help with the front seat part of your question.

Trust me YOU WILL NOT be dissapointed

Fits 1998-2001 1500 Series Rams equipped with the 40/20/40 front seat. It Also fits 1998-2002 2500 & 3500 Series.

This Stealthbox model is as stealthy as they come with a clever design that replaces the lower center cushion of the Ram' s front seat with a sealed subwoofer enclosure. Your factory upholstery covers the box for a perfect factory look.

The forward location and downfiring design of this Stealthbox deliver amazing "up-front" bass presence and stunning impact.

The Hard Data:

Contains one 12W3v2-D2 in a sealed enclosure. 300 Watt power handling. Wired for 4 ohm mono. Stealthbox replaces the bottom part of the factory front center seat. In '98-Up trucks, a seatbelt sensor must be repositioned. In Ram QuadCab models, rear center cup holders need to be removed and the seatbelt sensor needs to be relocated. Stealthbox must be covered using cover from the bottom part of the factory front center seat.

Model Name: SB-D-TRKCTR2/12W3

SKU: 94087

Color: n/a (uses factory upholstery)

Model years for this model: 1998-2000

Match Grade: Perfect (uses factory upholstery)

I put a powered 6" Bazooka under the left rear seat... fairly easy to do and sounds much better than the stock system, however, my brother put a 8" box under his seat with a seperate amp and his bass is MUCH better than mine. Especially at high volumes. I dont know if its a cheap amp in the powered Bazooka?? Given the chance to do it over... I would go with a reasonable size box and seperate amp.

Thanks for the responses guys. After doing more research I have found that the amplified base tube will not fit under the pass. seat. However, the non-amp. tube would fit but then I need a separate amp to power it. With that, I am now leaning towards the Stealth box that TMTT posted. TMTT, do you have one in your truck? Is there any foam on top of the box? I occasionally have passengers riding in the center seat? Any idea how much $???

Looks like it would work sweeeet!!! :) TIA,

Cheers,

Dave

Yep. It uses the oem upholstery and mine is powered by a Fozgate 600 which sits under the pasenger seat. It is not the softest seat ever (In fact it resembles a makeshift seat at a construction site kind of hard) and I believe is not to be used as one ?? I have but whatever. For a single 12" sub the thing purly SLAMS and is crystal clear. It will thump with some of the best high end systems arround (The rest of my story includes Dynamat everywhere but ceiling and floor and 6. 5 inch Boston seperates up front(Soundstage)and rear for (imaging/fill) and an alpine head unit) Cost. Well My advice has allways ben EBAY ... Look for new and you will save $$$'s Go to tweeter and you can expect a 450 dollar whack to the wallet. Ebay can shave off a good 150 off of that.

EC,

Thanks for that reply! What a great idea. I'm happy with the stock Infinity system, it just needs some more clean bass sound.

Your box idea is a cost effective way to do just that!:) Does the box have to be ported?

No, the speaker he used was for use in sealed enclosures. The problem with porting small boxes is that the ports are small in diameter and will "huff" badly. Granted, ported enclosures have there place but saving space is not one of them. :)

ECappleman,

I did essentially the same thing that you did except I used an 8" woofer and a 100 amp board both mounted on particle board and firing downward with a piece of perforated steel plate for protection of the cone. All of the parts and materials were already around the house so the cost is less than $50. 00. I relied on the middle seat itself to enclose the arrangement and only cut enough foam to let the speaker magnet end come flush with the steel frame of the seat. I wasn't expecting more than a bass enrichment but the thing turned out to punch surprisingly well.

KRS, did you use a free-air sub. They are designed specifically for infinite-baffle use. Regular subs will over-extend and wear out quickly in free-air applications. Just a FYI. ;)

The box is not ported, I would have had to double the size of the box to make a good ported enclosure and there just isn't enough room to do it easily. Besides, I prefer non ported enclosures, they make the bass crisper and sound better IMHO. Ported enclosures are about 3db louder though.
