Got my new truck last Monday and today the engine light came on and I pulled the codes P0243 and P0480. Also my ABS light came on.

I ran her hard Friday and Saturday. I already have 2,000 miles on her.

Any idea what the prob is? After I make my delivery tommorow she going to the dealer.

0243 is faulty turbo wastegate pressure solinoid. had the same problem at 700 miles. part on order and dealer states no danger to truck being driven

With the truck off you push down the Odometer button then turn the key to the on position and you cluster will go through a self test mode. At the end of the test the code numbers will flash if any are set or you will see 000. It's kind of cool to see all the lights come on.....

That will get some codes, but I think they're just for the cluster.

To get the engine codes, cycle the key from off to on 3 times without starting the truck. The odometer will read out the codes, one at a time. When it's finished, it will say "done".

when i got the codes via ithe ignition cycling i took my truck to the dealer and told the service underwriter what the problem was and how i got the information. he blew me off with a "it takes a few hours to run the truck through our diagnostics " 2 1/2 hrs later he slinked back and informed me i was correct.

Thanks for the info, I just tried it and it worked. Now it just said "done" so i am assuming there are no faults?

Also is there a site that has the list of codes?

thanks again

No problem. That's what this site is for.

As I understand it if it only said done, there is no fault at this time, but the codes may be stored in the computer and pulled out with an OBD-II scan tool. I assume the check engine & ABS lights are off now.

The codes are listed in the FAQ at https://www.turbodieselregister.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=64031

They're for the '03, but I doubt there are many differences.

A stuck open wastegage would equal poor mileage and performance, no?

My light also came on and I checked the codes. I have the same two codes.

I had the truck at the dealer last week for poor A/C. A/C runs fine on the highway but sucks wind in traffic or slow driving. Thought it was the fan clutch or low freon (compressor cycles when idleing with fan on high). Service dept said it's blowing 38 degrees and nothing is wrong. Said they tested it while sitting in the parking lot ideling. Yea... . somethings blowing but not 38 degrees!

Anyhow... . I left dealer really upset feeling like they don't give a rats a**. Now I get these two codes and I'm going back in Friday. I'll let you guys know how I make out... .
