6" Exhaust

Anbody know where I can pick up some 6" exhaust tubing. Seems pretty scarce.

6" exhaust? My god man. That is huge. Talk about size envy. I have never even heard of this. A couple guys have 5" i know but 6"? Is it possible?



I would try a big rig shop. That is going to be your best bet I think.

Hehehehehe, yep, it's possible. Best bet is the big rig shops, as stated above.

Yeah but from a HY(X)35 the part before the down pipe would be no larger then the 3" that comes on it right? I have looked at it before and wondered if a 4" is really nessacary because it has to reduce to the 3" opening from the turbo right? Please correct me if wrong.



Just for giggles I want a 4" from turbo to a 4" outlet just before the rear tires, on both sides, stright pipe of corse. Think this would sound cool?

It's not quite what you think. I was thinking to run 6 inch outer pipe with 4 inch inner pipe. Then connect a blower moter to pump air inbetween. THat will keep the outer pipe cool so as not to heat up my capinterior or melt the fiberlass at the penetration.

I work in the parts department of a so called "Big Rig Shop". But I don't think I have ever seen 6" exhaust tubing. Now I have a reason to go to work tomorrow. I'll post here if I find anything.

I bought my 5 inch stuff yesterday and installed it. Bought it from big rig shop... . they have 6-8inch also... . 8 is expensive and harder to get but is available. 6 will be no prob at any big truck shop... . i ran 5 inch stacks and had right at 400 invested... .

Would you really need a blower or would you get a venturi effect if the 4" pipe ends a couple feet before the end of the 6" pipe?

I understand your angle, my thoughts is it may be less expensive and more effective to go with an exhaust blanket for the heat reduction. A marine coupler may do the pentration trick.



It would be impressive though. We use 5" plumbing on the Series 50 and ISC engines. InsulTech supplies our blankets.

Exhaust Blanket, not familiar with it, tell me a little more.



I was thinking about the venturi effect. But I don't think it will be enough. Someone also told me the exhaust may go back down due to low pressure under the truck. In any event, it will be a lot of trial and error.

Rethinking the issue, a fiberglass tube may be better than steel. It shouldn't radiate as much heat into the cap. All our mufflers are vertical mount with fiberglass walls. Transit bus if you're wondering.



I'm thinking on trying an exhaust blanket on my turbo and initial downpipe to lower under hood temps in the summer. Winter time, it would come off. I want to capture all the underhood heat possible.
