Finally! The truck earns its' keep! (sort of)

Finally got my Goosneck stock trailer. It came with a 6 pin connector and im wanting to convert it to the dodge 7 pin. Is there any kind of diagram or adapter that i can use? Thanks in advance.....

Aloha

The Dodge service manual has the diagram in the electrical section. Hopefully the stock trailer came with a manual. Otherwise, you wil have to use a 12V battery and power up one wire at a time on the trailer to find out what is brakes; left turn; right turn;backup lights; running lights; ground. The 7th is a 12V + to charge the trailer batteries.

7 to 6

the make and adaptor,,,,,,,, cheap and easy,,,,, the only thing is once you connect the trailer with the adpator,,,,, the brakes make lock up,,,,,,,,,, if they do,,,,,,, simply take the adaptor apart,,,,, (simple,,, just one screw) and switch the brake feed wire so that is matches up with the center conector on the truck (i am pretty sure it's the center wire,,,,,,,, it's been acouple years since i had to do it my self),,,,,,,,,,, cheap, easy,,,,,,,,,, no head ache

ON my truck, the 7 pins are labeled right on the spring loaded lid. You have to get right down under there to read them, but they are there. I've had plenty of problems with adapters. Especially leaving them on the bumper and driving off. If you hook up and the brakes are locked on the trailer, you most likely have the constant hot power wire hooked to the brakes. Most adapters come apart and usually only have two wires that can be swapped. My newest one, I had to disconnect the constant hot wire and 'plug' it so it's not connected to anything. On one side it would stick the brakes on, in the other hole it would pop my 40 amp ($5:mad: ) trailer fuse on the truck.

The adapters are usually around $15

Thanks guys for the help... . i think ill run to wlamrt today and pick one up or head to the dealer and buy a pigtail for the trailer side.

Mark, trailer made it, but it was too much of a hassle to get the horse to oakland with that trailer. Dad is doing good after his accident, still doing some physical therapy but is coming along slowly but surely. How was your trip?... hopefully unevenful... ...

Aloha
