I've seen the conversion kits for Getrag to NV4500, but not one to a new venture 6spd. Do they not bolt up the same? Also the new TDR Mag seems to infer that an early 98 model 6 speed might be a good candidate for a transfer, if you could find one. Any Ideas?
 
This is definitely the way I'd go if it would work and if my Getrag actually ever fails me. I've wondered why no one has talked about this conversion. I don't think the new DEE will work from what I've read in the last TDR but the earlier one should. I've also wondered why no one swaps a GM NV4500 because I don't think they have a 5th gear nut problem.

Hey guys, look-up www.drivetrain.com, these guys already have the low down on both conversions. The main reason that the NV5600 is not used as much is most likely the price, it is a fair chunk more then the NV4500. Great idea, something to save for #ad

I just inspected their website, and the 5600 does require fabrication on 2wd, and driveshaft work on both 4wd and 2wd. Still, slamming six gears would be nice!

Don't shoot me for this one, but... ... what about the Zed F unit from a Super duty FXXD?? I have driven my friends F250 (which he recently traded for a Dodge 5 speed) and the 6 speed in them is nice. I also do not like the Dodge 6 speed in that the 6th gear is "back" against the seat and leaves no room for a 3rd passenger. The FxxD unit is forward like 5th gear on the getrag and NV units. I have noticed that the newr trucks aren't designed for a 3rd passenger up front. They want you to buy the quadcabs. I can ride 3 comfortably in my 89, but the 99, forget it. I am not a Zed F expert, but they do build nice units. Not sure if they give trouble or not, but I do think they are a little heavier built than the NV trannys
