My truck has only 26000 miles on it and last week I noticed the clutch starting to slip,I am the only driver of the truck and always start off in 1st gear and at a stop I always put it in neutral with my foot off of the clutch, I baby this thing, and have been driving standards all my life and have never had to put a clutch in any truck that I have ever owned . Is this normal for such a heavy duty truck. Will DC warranty this?

Is this normal for such a heavy duty truck?
No, not if your truck is stock. Mine only started slipping when I added the DD2 injectors to the other mods in my signature (Edge EZ, etc. )

Will DC warranty this?
Probably not. Generally, they will only warrant a clutch for the first 12,000 miles.

I feel for you, you're probably going to get the runaround from your dealer. Your case is what a warranty is for, and they will probably try to get out of it. I hope your dealer treats you right, and fixes you up ASAP.

Yes, that is 100% abnormal for a clutch to go out that quick.

Gregg, Your situation sounds very similar to mine. I too found myself justifying my "clutch driving abilities" because how else can one explain, a 13 inch clutch gone after so few miles ? Clutches are classified by Dodge in the same paramaters as wiper blades and brakes. That is, 12,000 miles, or 12 months. The 2002 HO clutch system in not a wimpy setup, and therefore, should have lasted us both, many more miles. But I wouldn't hold your breath on Dodge fixing it. The best they offered me was a repacement at the going dealer rate. I hope you the best. Keep us posted on your solution. :) :) :) Jim

I have 80K on my stock Pee-Wee 5-speed clutch and I tow 13K with minor mods, no slippage yet, I keep the revs up uphill, one, to be easy on the clutch, and two so I don't blow the trans in a million pieces!!! Going to change it before it becomes a problem. Can't explain the problems you guys are having, except MAYBE the rear oil seal is dumping lube on the clutch?? :D

Any members in your near proximity that can recommend a good dealer? Having a TDR friendly service manager or tech can be REAL nice, whether you've modified your truck or not. Check out the other clutch thread titled 38600 miles, has a picture of another 2002 flywheel with low miles and some flywheel issues!

Any of the member DC techs watching this post? I'll ask my friend if there are any magic words that can be used to isolate it to a problem they are aware of. Seems like sometimes it is a matter of how you describe the problem, key words you use. Like stumble instead of stutter, or vibrates instead of rattle...
