O. K. so I have the replacement fluid I'm going to use in my 6 speed. Now what is the drill on draining the old and filling with the new fluid?

Thanks,

Craig

Take out one of the bottom PTO cover bolts to drain, fill through the 17mm plug on the drivers side of the transmission. Use silicone to seal the bolt (9/16) when you put it back in. Now would be a good time to put on a Fastcooler (driver side) and a PTO filter (passenger side) and fill with Synchromax fluid from Royal Purple, I just put 4000 miles on her with the RP stuff and had perfect shifting even at 19F. Unfortunately, I had a 1 st gear problem that is not lubricant related. The 1st gear issue existed before I tried the RP stuff and the switch to RP was a vain attempt to make it work right. The transmission was replaced and shifts perfectly now. It seemed to run about 15-20*F cooler, and the RP stuff is fully synthetic and safe for syncros. I started looking for an alternative to the OEM stuff after I found that the Texaco lube was jelling after 30,000 miles, see my album for a picture of the OEM lube.

It is beneficial to remove the driver's side PTO cover and clean the bottom of the transmission case. You can only do this from the driver's side. There is a magnet in the bottom of the case that collects quite a bit of iron. You can remove it for cleaning as well.

I have Amsoil in mine and shifts okay. The chance is as easy as described by Texas Diesel. Only problem I had was finding the big hex 17 mm to remove the plug. My rear trans seal a little damp. You think if I have it changed on warrantly the **** stealer will know?
