I have a '96 5-speed - NV4500 - lost 5th gear (what else is new) and am taking this opportunity to convert to NV5600. Before I spend the $$$, I'd like to know: What's the difference between the 98. 5-02 6 speed and the 03 six speed???

TIA

I've been trying to figure that one out as well since the '03 HO puts out more power than DC spec'd the original 5600. As far as I know, the clutch is the only difference.

6 spd

There are two different 6 spds in the 2nd. gens, the early one with the 11/4 input shaft and the later(HO)with the 13/8 input shaft. I believe that the later version is the same one used in the 3rd. gens w/a different clutch.

Aside from the larger input shaft and the clutch, why do you suppose the '03 would need a different short shift kit (BD) than the earlier one? Did they change something in the shift tower/mechanism/lever???

Do you suppose maybe DC had to put a stronger shift stick in 'cause you over-valved guys were bending them trying to get through all those gears? :D
