Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) 6 speed shifter noise

I just recently started getting a "rattle" that seems to come for the shifter. Sometimes, it sounds like it's coming from the shifter nob itself and at other times it sounds like it's coming from under the rubber boot in the linkage itself. Typically th sound goes away when going downhill, particularly on the highway.



Has anyone experienced anything similar, or can some one point me in the right direction to fix this? It is really annoying!

The nut that holds the shift knob on, came loose and start to rattle on mine.
