6 speed should I or Shouldn't I

I've got 240,000 hard miles on my 2000 duelly 5 speed, 4 trannys ,2 rearends. Question is, Should I do the NV5600?

IS the 6th gear an overdrive like the 5 nv4500. Am I going to have the same problems?

6th is od but not held by a nut as the NV4500 is. Given the cost of conversion and your mileage, etc. I'd strongly consider trading up to a 2003-305 hp-6 speed. This also gets you the newest version of the NV5600.

Just made the swap from the 4500 to the 5600 in my 98. 5. I think the gears are the same ratio in 1st and 6th but are spaced much better in between. Mine had a big gap between 2nd and 3rd that was corrected with the 6 speed. The swap is pretty easy. Call Keith at Blumenthals in Ok. City, they offer the trans. and the installation kit.

Yes, they are the same ratio in OD. The difference is the split between the other gears

I did the 5 speed to 6 speed conversion and like it. The overdrive in the NV5600 is slightly higher speed (by two points), another plus for the six speed. Joe D did give some good advice though. Larry

Need more info! What have they changed in the 5600?
