Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) 6 speed trans. 4th gear grind.

I have a 2001 HO with a six speed. When cold, fourth gear grinds if I shift normally. If I delay my shift a second or two it doesn't grind. I have 94,000 miles and have never had a problem before. Does anybody have any idea what the problem is and whether or not I can repair it myself. Thanks

I've got the same problem except it's 3rd gear. Been that way since I got the truck at 25k miles. I just double clutch for the first few miles.

You might look at the fluid level in the clutch reservoir.

I would suspect a syncro also, the sixth gear syncro on mine has been MIA for awhile now...
