I'm in the process of installing one of those transmission filter kits and the fluid is drained. I can't get the PTO cover off the driver's side and YES all of the six bolts are out. I want to get all of the fluid out and check for any large pieces of metal. The filter kit goes on the passenger side but i don't want to get myself any deeper into this project until I get the PTO cover off. The way it looks I'm going to trash the gasket and will have to find a way to get to the parts store. Any advise from you pros?

I put a set of Fastcoolers on my '01, and the original PTO cover didn't use a gasket. It was sealed with a silicone-type sealer. I installed the Fastcoolers with the original PTO covers, and used a product made by Permatex called the "Right Stuff". It makes gaskets that are oil, coolant, and ATF resistant. I would guess that yours is glued on like mine was(with no gasket, just sealer). NAPA stocks the Right Stuff. I used a good putty knife between my original PTO cover and case and popped it off.

Thanks Johnrv4,

I called the dealer about a gasket and they said there is no gasket so I figured it must be silicone. All I have is Permatex RTV high temp silicone. I'll try the putty knife. Thanks again!
