I saw that Gizmo 007 has 6 way turn signals. Can someone please explain? Also I was goin to put some marker lights between my bumper and bottom of tailgate on the bed. Can those of you who have done this please let me know # and size of lights and where you positioned them. Pics would be very helpful. Right now I have considered the DOT 3 light strip or putting the 2" flush mount round ones in. THanks to all!:)

So you noticed ...

Yes, I have the 6 way turn signals, thanks to Evan Beck. I think he originally came up with the idea. Anyway, here is a picture of the wiring diagram.

I clipped the brake wires from the rear lights and spliced into the CHMSL wire that dead ends into the wiring harness below the tail lights (gives you solid tail lights).

I then ran a wire from each front blinker light to the corresponding rear backup light (be sure to replace the back up lights with amber bulbs).

You now have amber turn signals, and solid red brake lights. Doing it like this doesn't affect your trailer plug.

If you have any more questions, PM or e-mail me. I'll be glad to help.

The 6 way turn signal basically gives you amber turn signals, seperate from your brake lights. Like the new Chevys (I said a dirty word :p). It's easier to see that you are turning. BTW, the lights on my rear fenders flash also.

Yes Evan A. Beck came up with the 6-way TS conversion over 2 years ago. He put it on his '98. 5 and now his 2001. On both of his trucks he installed side TS lamps at the back edge of the cab on the 1" body line (level with plastic molding) for greater visibility. Evan helped me do the TS conversion on my rig but I didn't go so far as to tear out part of my interior and drill a hole thru the body to install the side lamps. But given the close calls with blind idiots on the highways I am thinking about going all the way with this mod.

Evan has done some great wiring stuff, that sort of thing is up his alley. Another little project he did was install 2 small red LEDs on his instrument panel that light to indicate grid heater operation. . . one for each grid. Looks pretty cool when he fires up and they flash on/off in an alternating pattern for a few seconds.

I'll see if I can find some good pictures. :D

Its a great addition to any truck, and is VERY visible from a distance.

Vaughn, I don't have two LED's in the dash anymore... I got four. :D

Evan,

Any hints on what the additional 2 LED's are for? And how you wired the grid heater indicators? I assume you wired them after the grid heaters so you can see if they are actually on (not just that they are supposed to be on. )

Thanks from the electrically challenged.

I to added the two LED's for the grid heaters, as well as the turn signal modification. For my LED's i used the blue type with a 220 ohm resistor. take power from each grid heater connection on the manifold and use it to power the LED's. Will see if i can get a pic this weekend with mine lit up.
