I have a question about these 60# valve springs. I am having my head milled and the machine shop is replacing my valve springs.
According to my service manual, the requrement for valve spring force is 81 lbs.
How is a 60 lbs spring better than the stock requirement of 81 lbs? The machine shop I am working with is an awesome gas/alcohol/methanol engine builder, but not much diesel performance. Any info would help.
When I put the 60lbs in the 97 the best price + shipping was from Rocky Mtn. Cummins.
Q???: I'll be getting set up for a e-brake in the 98 this winter (patiently waiting for another deal on a second hand one :-laf). When I did the 97 I changed both the intakes and exhaust. But I see the kits that come with only 6 for the exhausts from PacBrake and etc. My feeble ol'dog mind can't remember WHY I did both? Can you help an ol' feller out? Probably just because I was in there and wanted to "freshen" up both, neh?
I have the Jacobs unit on the shelf that came off my '96. Would not fit the bigger turbo. Think it is good for the '98 also. PM me if you are interested.
Thanks, NIsaacs and Jim Fulmer. If I had known what the heck I was talking about, your answers would have saved me a whole lot of trouble...
After verifying, reverifying and finally getting a call from the machine shop to hsmith, I learned that the 60# springs are different than stock - I was mistaken.
