From what I've been reading here and elsewhere, sixty pound exhaust valve springs are normally installed in 12 valve engines in conjunction with an exhaust brake.



I'm wondering if the 60# springs (both intake and exhaust) would also help with high rpm performance?

I would imagine they would help with vavle float. I'm not sure if that is what limits the RPM's in the 1st Gens though.
 
Yeah, valve float is kind of what I was thinking about. Not that I'm planning on heavily testing my governor. Mainly I was thinking about DieselBuzz's problem he describes in the thread titled "I think I killed my truck". It might come in handy on the off chance I get a runaway engine situation or something.



Oh well--maybe it's something I'll talk to Piers about if/when I can justify one of his ported and polished cylinder heads. :D
