What's the best plan to get to 600 rwhp on a single turbo on a truck that will see street duty and still hopefully sledpull occasionally? The truck is an '01 HO six-speed quad cab short bed 4x4 2500.

Here are my current plans:

Mach 6's

Hybrid HX-55

cam, if needed for spoolup

new VP44 (hotrod pump, if I can find a reliable one somewhere??)

Marco's ECM

wire-tap box if needed - Drag Comp or PM3 Comp

Snow water injection

O-rings & studs

I know the Mach 6's are on the large side for a single, but I picked them up when planning on twins, and hopefully the water injection will cool her down anyway - I'll be adding nitrous eventually, too.

So what do you think - anything you'd change? We're doing the clutch this weekend, so the power mods will come this spring, if all goes as planned...

Chris

I am trying to do the same as you but with an 02 auto. I am going to go with the HTB2 killer 64mm turbo as I believe it will have a better spoolup and not require a cam. I am not sure I will be able to make 600 but I think I might be able to get close with similar parts you mentioned.

I am also going to go with either the Blue Chip Redline box or TST PM3. I already have Marco's ECM and it already handles timing so I do not need the drag comp.

Sounds like you plan on running more than 45 PSI so maybe the HX55 is better.

Just my two cents.

the first step is to hold up a bank.

lay low for a few months and when its all clear have a friend buy all the parts for you paying spuratically with the loot.

what have you done to supply fuel to the pump? you better have a plan there too

Thanks for the input, Phil. I figured the HTB2 wouldn't be able to handle Mach 6's, which is why I've been planning on the 55 hybrid. I'm not sure, though. The 66mm sledpuller version looks like it might have a shot... Good point on the timing issue - I forgot about that. Drag Comp is out for me, too.

I've thought about the Redline box, but am unsure if the VP's will hold up to it long-term. Do you know anyone who has tested it for several thousand miles?

I've also considered not adding any box at all since Gullet made over 570 with just the mad ecm...

Chris

PRyker I would recommend the Sledpuller 66 with the 14cm exhaust if your going over 500hp. I'm just under 500hp and feel that in order to run Mach 4s I really need to upgrade so I'm going to sell my HTB2 and upgrade to the Sledpuller. My HTB2 is 4 months old and works great but I'm also interested in obtaining the 600hp mark even if it takes drugs.

LOL. Shhhh - don't tell everyone my plan, or you'll spoil it! haha

Forgot about the fuel system - I'm planning on either going with a Holley Blue and doing it on the cheap for now, or getting one of the new complete Aeromotive systems that J. R. has been working on, though that'll cost quite a bit more... .

I need a tester for some prototype large healthy sticks. You need this:

A full size B-1 or similar large single turbo, a drag Comp or TST competition box, a built auto transmission, good low pressure fuel delivery supply side to the VP, a set of average sized tires (nothing over a 32. 5" and hopefully not a wide, heavy tire) and finally a 3. 54 ratio rear axle. The cylinder head does not need to be o-ringed but a good set of properly TQ'd ARP studs is highly recommended. The stock cam is fine.

Its past time to move the 24 valve single charger trucks well past the 600 mark and I am pretty certain I have the stick to make it happen. We bumped 599 with a truck that had 4. 10 gears. I made some positive changes in the right direction and need a solid truck to stick the sticks in

Dyno testing on a Dynojet will be required and the cost paid for by you! I will give you the final set of injectors for no cost.

Bob, I'd be interested in doing that if you still need a tester in a month or two. We're doing the clutch this weekend, and then adding fuel system and gauges over the next month, get an ecm ordered, etc. So it'll be a little while before any testing could take place, but I would be interested.

Two things which might keep you from wanting to use my truck as a tester, though - (1) I've got the NV5600, not a built auto like you mentioned above, and (2) I've got tires that are between 33 and 34" tall. (I'd have to double-check exact height)

How would we work it if they made less power than the Mach 6's and I didn't want your injectors?

Chris

Bob, I have a twin'd truck if Don's interested. (probably not!)

I was needing to upgrade to some EDM processed injectors anyway. i have a tweaked TST comp box.

Chris, i have the Holley blue pump on mine and things seem to be fine. nothing fancy just plumbed it in back at the tank and ran 3/8 line between it and the factory lift pump. I have -6an from the fiilter housing to the pump to smooth out the kinks there.

Test Truck

Bob- If you or Don are looking for a test truck, mine may fit the bill.

b-1 turbo tst comp stacked ez set of don's mach 5's currently scotty II full ats transmission power by poole fuel lines and pusher. Olee is o-ringing my head today and it will be back Thursday. I do have 4. 10 gears but are offset by 255-85-16. Maybe close to what you are looking for. Oo.

i got 600 rwhp on a daily with the sledpuller. I like it but it's lagy big time once it gets going it's all right. The killer b had a ton of bark and surge issues and now the sledpuller is starting to develop more of the same signs of surging and fluttering not as bad but still there.

Don~

I have everything but the head studs, I have one of the puller 66 turbos at home waiting to go on my truck (from high tec turbo). and I am going to the st. louis dyno day on the 19th of next month. I will be dynoing that day in front of a bunch of people from this forum, and it's on a dyno jet.

pm me if i fit your ticket

Sickly showed up with 609 on a single turbo, #2 only, back in 2001 at the Vegas Dyno Days set up by HVAC, Maddog, and Psychostroker. Stock HX55. Next on #2 only was Nowel's 480 with twin turbos. Maddog made 500 with propane and nitrous on his PowerStroke engine.

600 is pretty easy with NOS, i made 609hp with mach 4s and a . 073 single jet. Looking to make 600hp with a single B1 and diesel only. I have a ARP studs if anyone needs them and a large box of F1 injectors on hand. Don makes a killer injector keep up the good work!!

Tell me more about the F1 inJectors.

Did you get a tester for your injectors yet? My truck should be close to your requirements (except for the tires). Look at my sig. I am in the process of getting the head O-ringed and studded as we speak. It should be complete within two weeks.

Doug

Man, I need to get on a dyno... I should at least be around low 500 hp range. The biggest problem I'm having right now is turbo surge. Need to save my pennies for a blow off valve now. That and I think I have all the fittings tightened properly now. I think the R. A. S. P. was sucking air and killing my engine under WOT with the box on 5x5.
