I drove it off the lot with 100 miles on it and well, the 2005 Dodge 3500 Dually 4*4 just turned over 64,000 miles. Took it in for poor front tire wear Friday. Was hoping it was just an alignment and its the ball joints. 4 ball joints with labor $ 881. 00, including the alignment at Les Schwab its there right now. Totally stock size tires. Truck is used for hauling and towing, not abused.

A little bummed, it just became more expensive then my 2005 Ford Excursion 6. 0 Diesel motor in terms of repairs since day one.

Those 2010s are looking real nice right nowOo.

Welcome to owning a 3rd gen dodge cummins. I've had 4 sets and my truck just turned 71500 I bought the carli's and done with it.

Yep been seeing all the tdr reports and posting about it so I guess its my turn.

The Les Schwab guy was telling me its pretty common on all the trucks, Dodge, Chevy and Ford. They all seem to have about the same amount of trouble with Ball Joints.

GULP!!!!!!!!

Ive got 90K on mine, original Ball Joints. WTF!. Mine are fine!.

EG,Id like to hear more about what the truck has seen in it's life.

Mac,

Its just used as a truck and not abused. About 60% of the miles are towing, tent trailer, enclosed trailer with quads, dump trailer, utility trailer and a gooseneck flatbed trailer. Its used to haul toys and for personal homeowner projects. I have a Ford Excursion I drive for work (as a CPA). Its a dually with stock sized tires.

I am at 57K and mine are starting to go. . No funny tire wear, but it pulls a little to the right.

I must be one of the lucky ones. 189 400 miles on the originals so far, no pulling, no binding or abnormal tire wear. They do have about 1/8" up & down movement but no sideways play that I can feel. Use it for commuting & towing at least twice monthly. Stock wheels and tires. 99% paved roads.

I have a 165k on my 03 and mine are still good. Got about 105k out of my 04 put moogs in and it drives worse than with wore smooth out oem's. I guess I am going to have to spend the money and get some carli's for the 03.

Thanks EG, I check mine for play every 10K when I grease my front drive shaft. Im not really sure why the dam things are holding up. Like you stock size tires etc.
