Dodge 600 2wd for sale in CO

Anybody tried one of these? My neighbor has a C20 rotting in his back yard. Pretty tempting to try a 12V conversion. If anybody has any good info, I'd like to hear it.

Thanks,

Ken's is a '73 model. The body style changed that year, alot. The '72 and older is like Jimmy's truck. (Ken's son).

There is little to no difference betwen the '72 and '73 frame wise, both were leaf sprung with similar dimensions. The 2wd versions had slightly different A arm designs, but nothing major. The front clip on the '72 is slightly shorter from the core support to the firewall than the '73 and newer. It is not much though, they both had the identical driveline parts in them originally. I remember the '72's having a different heater box location, closer to the engine than the '73 and newer. That may be the only concern with fitment, though as old as those cabs were, you could easily relocate it, they only had fabric tubing for vent ducts in them.

I have a '67 2wd C-10 with a 454 4 speed in my driveway right now getting rewired and air bagged. I can take some measurements for you against my '90 Suburban if there is any doubt. I know where the '73 to '91 bodied R bodied GM trucks had clearance issues with the turbo on the 5. 9.

Dawna, are you pointing to your 73 chevy? The 67-72 are sometimes called 1st gen chevys, they are a totally different body style than the 2nd gen chevys 73-87,88? Maybe I didnt see the truck you were refering to. Any way JamesHanna look at my sig it can be done.

As far as good info, I think a conversion on one of these is the same as any other conversion. Get the engine to fit in the engine compartment, build motor mounts and hook everything up, nothin to it. ;) The frame on these trucks is considerably lighter than the newer ones, depending on what you plan on using the truck for this might be something to consider before you get started.

If my son can get on into an S-10, then putting one in a C-10 will be a piece of cake.

My son is restoring a 67 right now, but he's putting in a 454 he has lying around. I'm still working on him though... LOL

J,

I'm intrestrested in hearing more about your son's S-10 with a cummins. Any photos available? What kind of problems did he run into? Is it non-intercooled? What is the rest of the drivetrain? How does it handle?

I have a 67 chevy and I'll be doing one of these as soon as I have enough cash for a used 4BT (probably by June).

If I remember his posts about his son's truck right, the engine is in the cab. Didn't do much to the front end to compensate for the weight either, tiny little 2wd spindles and wheel bearings make me cringe at the thought of any high speeds.

Do a search of his username, you shouls find the archived posts on it.

yes ours is a 73 with 91 front clip but we have done the older body style, its a pretty easy fit, those old trucks had lots of room... . we have the motor mounts on the shelf... .
