Been working with Dave last couple of months on 68 RFE T/C. Dave built a couple Triple Disks and several modified stock T/C's. I think we finally have a couple winning combos. Its gonna be a while until the triples are out, but the moddified stock T/C's are awesome. We were able to lower the stall a lot lower with the 68 and still have really nice spool up. The factory 68 shifts well when HP is stock, but when the power goes up there is very little RPM drop between shifts. It was almost like the more I turned it up the slower the truck got with the factory T/C and facory stator . When Dave and I started plugging in different Stall speed stators, the RPM drop got greater and greater even at 500 HP at the wheels. The last stator Dave tried is the best. If guys stick with the stock turbo it will really be a nice T/C. If the turbo is changed, Dave has a medium stall that will work very well.

Between the lower stall stator, factory Dual Disk, close gear changes, and a little extra line pressure, we think the the factory T/C housing should work fine and save everybody some money. Towing with the truck is heaven now. Less throttle and it motivates. I'm so happy after this last Stator swap. Its just kept on getting better and better. After 2K miles, no codes and my 6. 7 has jumped from 12. 5 MPG to 19. 2 MPG.

This was just a little FYI. I've had guys calling me asking why there trans seemed to shift weird while towing and I think Dave has got it all figured out. Next thing we need to do is beef up the clutch packs with more surface area or more piston apply pressure. One thing at a time I guess. Richard

Nice to hear about the increased mileage with the 6. 7. I've been eyeing the 12 trucks on the local lot with $10k off stickers in the window...

The mileage on my 5. 9 sucks.

That sounds about right, I would say that most guys will see a considerable gain as you did in their testing as the 68RFE Torque Converter run the same crappy stator that 47/48's run, so they are extremely inefficient as they have always been.

I sure hope Dave or Stephan or somebody can get the rest of the trans stronger. Suncoast has a hold on Alto and won't let them sell any modified steels or clutches to any ather trans shops. I heard through the grape vine that they are saying 600 HP max and thats it. I lost my trans 2 months ago and I'm crossing my fingers on the stock Dodge trans now.

Its in the works, my 6. 7 is undergoing major change so Bill has no choice now. lol:D They'll get there soon, 600hp won't be nearly enough holding capacity, I'm willing to bet that it won't be long before these 6. 7 get to the 1000hp range. I feel the 6. 7 will be the king of the hill in power before to long.

when i put the 6. 7 in my 03 the 6. 7 made more power than the 5. 9 on diesel, about 200 HP but the 5. 9 made power power on NOS. I curious what happens by the end of this year.

should have number next week. Dave's gonna call on cores if somebody didn't mind hathing there truck down for a week (shipping and one day to rebuild) then they could have it faster. Cores are the big problem now. PM me, call the shop, call Dave, doesn't matter we can get it done. Dave says the prices should be all figured out by next wednesday or so. I was driving the truck last night. Its SOOOOOOOOOOO much better. That low first gear and low stall really work well together.

Thanks I will get ahold of them late next week then. Do they also have T/C's for the 48RE in an '06? Looking to possible increase the mileage on the '06. Thanks again, Ryan

Oh ya, Dave has T/C's for 06. 900/400 or 15 blade left cut might work well. Can't go as low stall as 68 rfe because the 48 has a higher first gear. the 10 blade works well in the 68 but you you but it in the 48 its fairly doggy out of the hole. The 10 blade in the 68 is so tight at mid to higher rpm that you can hardly feel lock-up. Raced a D-max last night in my megacab longbed dually with the 68 and the truck ran so well. The Dmax wasn't too happy though, lol.

Thats what we are lookin for. Oo.

richard, anymore updates?

What RPM would you say the stall speed is with the reworked TC? What would be the limit with TC and linepressure changes? Clutch surface still the weak link? How about shafts and planetaries?

BTW, you gunna make it to redding agin this year?

the T/C is awesome. Dave has some new T/C's at the shop. He is using them for cores. Pricing is figured out, PM me and I'll let you know. One of the biggest complaints I here from guys is that the stock trans will be pulling in 6th locked and then it will shift to 4th unlocked and just rev up and sit there. When we put in the 10 blade it took care of everything. This is the T/C that should have been installed from the factory. PM me or give me a call at the shop anytime 559-867-1111. Richard
