Finally received some info on the 68 rfe auto transmission. From shop info it is a multi-range, electronically controlled, 3 multiple disc input clutches, 3 multiple disc holding clutches, 4 hydraulic accumulators, 3 planetary gear sets and dual stage hydraulic oil pump. Hope some of you know what that means?

Gear ratios are said to be 3. 23, 1. 83, 1. 41, 1. 0, 0. 81 and 0. 62 with reverse being 4. 44 to 1. It appears to be a true 6-speed auto. According to dealer the 6. 7 engine will have more HP and torque with the 68 rfe than with the aisin auto?

That is correct. The 68RFE will be behind the 350/650 6. 7L powerplant. To my knowledge, no PTO provision exists.

The AISIN is utilized in the 305/610 6. 7L Cab & Chassis powerplant, and has PTO provisions, along with a 3 year / 180,000 mile transmission warranty. I test drove one at Cornett Chrysler in Irvine, KY this past Friday. The AISIN is a sweeeeeet transmission.

For What Ever It's Worth

This is directly from a product specialist at the Detroit Auto show. We where talking about the Ram NOT the c/c . He Stated "that the 68RFE Initialy will be produced in japan at Aisin then later a plant in in the US will be sourced for mass productin on domectic units". Seem to know what he was talking about but who knows.

I'll bet that the 305/610 rating for the CC trucks has NOTHING to do with the torque rating of the Aisin transmission. It looks to me that the main thing about the Aisin in the CCs is its PTO capability. The 68RFE (has anyone even seen one yet?) will be in regular HD pickups for cost reasons only. I'll be surprised if it is rated for more torque than the Aisin.
