I remember an older thread, where someone who works at the transmission plant said they ran them at 1000 ft-lb. He didn't say for how long, but at least they don't slip.
 
I can't believe the true rating is 650ftlbs... that means Dodge is never planning on upping the power of the 6. 7L



Some years ago I went to the Allison site and found the A1000 five speed was only rated to 520#. Sure enough GM was torque limiting their engines to that in 5th and 1st gear. Yet they kept boosting torque and HP ratings. Since then I read the A1000 was beefed up for the "Z" engine when it went six speed in 06.

I would think there is some added capacity designed into the 6. 7 and 68rfe. If not the after market will find it.
