So having trans issues, have a bd I think it’s a towmaster edition. Slipping between 2-3 and 4-5 mostly, getting low pressure code. Checking wiring currently, ohmed most of it out already, and I’m not finding any issues. About 60k on it, 205k on truck 2015 6.7 2500 tuned deleted lives on 3,tow tune, I drive it like an “old man”.

VEHICLE IS DRIVABLE
  1. Record all DTCs and the accompanying DTC Event Data.
  2. Check for an appropriate Technical Service Bulletin that applies to the customer complaint.
  3. Check fluid level and condition.
  4. Road test and note how transmission upshifts, downshifts, and engages.
  5. If the complaint was related to shift quality, perform the Quick Learn procedure,
  6. If the shift complaint still exists, compare actual line pressure (sensor reading, using the scan tool) to the Desired Line Pressure reading, in Park, Drive, and Reverse at 1500 RPM. Check that the LP sensor reads 30 psi (the minimum it should ever display) with key on / engine off.
  7. Follow the diagnosis procedure for any DTC's that exist.

If the QL is required.

TCM QUICK LEARN - RLE AND RFE TRANSMISSIONS

The quick learn procedure requires the use of the scan tool.

This program allows the electronic transmission system to recalibrate itself. This will provide the proper transmission operation. The quick learn procedure should be performed if any of the following procedures are performed:

  • Transmission Control Module Replacement.
  • Solenoid Pack Replacement.
  • Clutch Plate and/or Seal Replacement.
  • Valve Body Replacement or Recondition.
To perform the Quick Learn Procedure, the following conditions must be met:

  • The brakes must be applied.
  • The engine speed must be above 500 rpm.
  • The throttle angle (TPS) must be less than 3 degrees.
    • shift lever position must stay in PARK until prompted to shift to overdrive.
    • The shift lever position must stay in overdrive after the Shift to Overdrive prompt until the scan tool indicates the procedure is complete.
    • The calculated oil temperature must be above 60° and below 200°

Good point, as that quick-learn is so often overseen.
But it is crucial for the transmission to not destroy itself.

It allows everything, even more then wiTech in some cases.
Full access to all systems of the vehicle, reading, programming, changing parameters, activate and deactivate features and so on. Endless possibilities.

Android phone or tablet, MX or MX+ Bluetooth Dongle and the software. AlfaOBD runs on Windows and Android only. When you get the software, save the config file so that you can undo changes that didn't work or can reload config file if something major goes wrong. Great software as @Ozymandias has mentioned! Plenty of help on here fore the asking.

Android over windows?

Yes, Android is the way to go.
Almost any cheap Tablet will do it as long as it isn't from the medieval times.

Android version because it runs better and way better support as 95% user use it on that platform.

Once you figure ut out how it works you'll never give it away. This tool does brain surgery on your truck the way you want it.

Your 2015 2500 should be a DJ vehicle.

Have you connected to the truck yet?

I believe the QL function is part of the diesel module.

If you are getting low line pressure codes you have a massive leak somewhere, likely the UD\OD clutch pack is toast. Unless they replaced the OD clutch drum with the Sonnax part and fixed the VB leaks it is toast. If they just rebuilt the VB with their paper gaskets it is more toast. Looks like if you got what BD claims it has in it they added some good parts but they do not have a good VB build yet to stop all the cross leaks and they don't machine out the SSV valve where a lot of cross leaks happen with wear on the trans.

If you have 60k on it with those symptoms you do not need a re-learn, you need a re-build.

Finally got some papers from the previous owner was a 2020 trans, now lost 3rd almost entirely and 5th. They said they’d warranty it but it’ll be a 3week wait and parts only, still cost me around 4-5k.
