Happy Birthday Sled Puller

I saw a 1969 Dodge Dart GT on a road Ii frequent stopped and spoke to the owner who owns quite a few late 60s early 70s muscle cars. He said he would sell it if someone came with the right offer in cash. I think it's worth about 6k because it's not original engine, etc. I didn't get to see the fender tags or the VIN so have no idea at this point if it's an original GT car and I really don't care b/c I'd keep the 440 in there anyway. What should I offer the fellow?

Body is all metal very straight - He had the local HS do the bodywork in shop class. Some of the chrome is pitted but all in all a good looking GT

Interior - Bucket seats, auto in console. Not a whole lot to do in there.

Engine - Not original - 440 4 barrel with the cast headers. Starts right up.

Trans - 727 Torqueflite

Rear - 8 3/4 rear 3. 23 or 3. 55 sure grip.

Sounds pretty good. Offer him that if you think it might be worth it. He will either take it or not. I don't know what something like that is worth right now. I use to have a 69 Dart Swinger 340 4spd. Buddy of mine had a 68 Dart GTS 340 auto. That Swinger 340 I had was one screaming car. Put down many a big block back in those days. :D

there is a big difference between a gt and a gts you could get a gt w/a /6 kind of like a ss chevy it's a trim package not a performance thing, the 83/4 would only have been w/a 340 or 383 car though and the ex manifolds would have to be from a b-eng a-body, there are some interesting parts there, is the motor on a plate or bisquits? are the frames tied? 67-69 darts do make neat hotrods, just my . 02

Rocket,

I saw you post @ BigBlockdart.com too.

Like one of the guys said over there, let the seller tell you how much he's asking for the car. In contrast I recently picked up a '68 GTS, original 383, now 440, straight car, good chrome, excellent interior, narrowed rear, tubbed, pro street type car = $$$ mid teens.

Thanks for the replies guys. I've been driving by where the car is and the guy's never home. I am going to offer him 4k for it and hope I don't offend him. It isn't all together needs a little work to make it 100%. If it doesn't have the original engine than it's not worth as much to a collector, right?

My dream car is a Hemi Dart and one day I'd like to make a clone. We shall see. Thanks again
