We pulled the 6BT out of my '93 D250 engine a short while ago and it went very smoothly thanks to the help of several folks including Andy (IDually) (thanks Andy - huge help dude) who came down from Denver for the day, TJ, Bob, Bob, and Rob.

We tore the rig apart - removed/cut off the front clip, scrapped the wrecked sheetmetal, pulled the hardware off the engine, loosed the converter, and yanked the engine. It was tighter than I thought it would be, but it eventually popped out with a little help of a prybar getting the flexplate to clear the bellhousing.

In the process I made a custom engine stand for the 6BT - here's some pics:

The stand - super strong; engine flips front-to-back verses rolling side-to-side

Back side of a 6BT, and factory adaptor

Rear mount - all plugs are accessable

D-side

P-side mount - uses the motor mounts as the main support for the weight of the engine -just like the factory

Outstanding work on the stands and rotisseries bud, you have given me some valuable ideas that I was too dumb to come up with on my own!

;) no sweat fellas. I've got to the point that I need to build my own equipment just to move/store some big items, and the Cummins out of my '93 was no exception. No stand I found would handle the weight, so I built this one to mount on the sides, nice and close, and I wanted to be able to work on the engine before it goes back in and still be able to get 'at' everything, to include the rear main seal.

that is an awesome stand. i did a search to see what people are using for stands. i was looking at my engine trying to figure out how to support it. i didnt think about using both side motor mount areas like that. thank you for the ideas.
