We pulled the 6BT out of my '93 D250 engine a short while ago and it went very smoothly thanks to the help of several folks including Andy (IDually) (thanks Andy - huge help dude) who came down from Denver for the day, TJ, Bob, Bob, and Rob.
We tore the rig apart - removed/cut off the front clip, scrapped the wrecked sheetmetal, pulled the hardware off the engine, loosed the converter, and yanked the engine. It was tighter than I thought it would be, but it eventually popped out with a little help of a prybar getting the flexplate to clear the bellhousing.
In the process I made a custom engine stand for the 6BT - here's some pics:
The stand - super strong; engine flips front-to-back verses rolling side-to-side
#ad
Back side of a 6BT, and factory adaptor
#ad
Rear mount - all plugs are accessable
#ad
D-side
#ad
P-side mount - uses the motor mounts as the main support for the weight of the engine -just like the factory
