4bt to chevy trans adapter plate??

What is needed?

Hi all, A friend is restoring a M715 and is trying to decide if the 6bt or 4bt is the best option. which auto or stick will bolt up to either? and run a divorced np205? He want's to do burnouts W/42" tires. What mods can be done to a 4bt compared to a 6bt.

Thank's,

Marc

To fit a 6B he needs 39 inches from the firewall to the back of the radiator. Adapters are available to fit Dodge, Chevy and other industrial transmissions. Most 4B's out there are of the first gen type with the rotary pump, mods between first gen 6B's and 4B's are the same.

If your friends really wants to do "burnouts with 42's" tell him to put any big block in it, he probably cant afford the breakage. IMHO

where would he look for conversion parts? I think a cummins is better than a big block. everyone does gassers a diesel would be a hot setup :D

I agree a Cummins is a better swap for what I'd do with the M715, but burnouts, that's not for me.

Conversion parts? If you mean the brackets, engine mounts to the frame, transmission cross member mounts etc, he'll have to make those. For the drive train the best way is to salvage a running chassis and strip off what you need. For engines trans, ect, use google.

He'd be best off if he'd get a susbscription to TDR and surf through the conversion section and ask question first hand.

a 6bt in a m715 will require a change in axles, and a cooling fan mounted in front of the radiator, and probably major mods to fit the intercooler. also it will put 4200+lbs on the front axle.
