6CTA 8.3 Swap

Anyone out there tried swapping in the 8. 3??

I imagine it can be done, the 8. 3 is not much larger than the 5. 9 and only weighs about 500lb. more. Air bags or stiffer springs for the front... ... ???

I talked to a guy that was going to do the swap once. He measured a first gen truck against a second gen truck. It will not fit in a second gen truck without extensive firewall surgery. However, he said it will sit right in a first gen truck. If I could find a longbed, extended cab 91-93 4wd truck, I would do the swap and make a better pulling truck. That's too costly for me though.
