90 cummins in my suburban lopy idle issue

I agree as well. Why would you want to go to the trouble to get crappier mileage, more maintance cost, and the clutter under the hood that a V8 turbocharged diesel includes. I myself am happy to be able to do a number of maintance jobs without pulling the cab off my truck. Besides, if a Cummins has twin turbos, it's pushing 700hp at least.

Seriously??, - what Wayne and Grizzly said...

Not even if I had "windowed" the Cummins and had the Powerstroke ready to go for free!

I don't think I could handle the ridicule from the "family", let alone show up to a dyno event and have that announced!!:-laf (more likely#@$%!)

any one put 7. 3 pwerstroke in a :confused:dodge?

I'm guessing all the responses will be subjective. This IS a Cummins engine forum. We just bought the best to begin with. While the 7. 3 is by far the best powerjoke, it just doesn't have the potential and aftermarket support that the Cummins has. And, they sound like crap. :-laf

Logged over 500,000 miles driving 7. 3's delivering bread though out the city/highway#@$%!#@$%!#@$%!-----THERE IS A REASON WHY I OWN 2 CUMMINS DIESELS(2001,2007)----experience goes a long way my friend---NEED I SAY MORE!!!!!!!!!!!. DW

IMO, any turbo diesel in a V configuration (V/8-V/6-V?), is a compromise in efficiency.

Turbo diesels that have to have exhaust gasses piped from ea. bank of V to a common turbo, seems to me, is an afterthought.

I personally will never own another turbo diesel that doesn't exhaust all cylinders into one common manifold, then into the turbo.

That being said, I'll be keeping an eye on the new V/8 Duramax, that was just developed for the new 1/2 ton GM truck. They exh. from the topside of the heads, into one manifold, into the turbo. All hot exh. gasses travel up to the turbo. I like the

concept.

In my opinion they should just run two small turbos. One on each bank with a split intake manifold to eqaulize the boost. Just my thoughts. It would cut down on all the heat energy lost by piping it all the way to the top of the engine.

ha! is this before or after you replace the lift and injector pump on the cummins?

If it is a Cummins with the proper fuel setup (VE, P7100 or common rail), you will never have to worry about the injection pump. Lift pumps are not as critical on the common rail engines like they are on the VP pumped engines. Would still be cheaper to convert the pos fuel system than to put in a whole pos engine (which has an equally as troublesome fuel system).
