2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission 7.5 to 8.5mpg towing ?

I just drove from Tulsa OK. to Pinedale WY. towing a 7200# "tall" fifth wheel RV. at 70 to 80 mph and got 7. 5-8. 5mpg. Is this normal? I tried it at 70mph and did notice 1mpg increase. This is with a stock '05 4x4 Auto. 4dr. long bed 3. 73. I got best mileage with the edge on "race" with a max momentary EGT of 1280. There was an Approx. 20mph headwind also.
