I recently read the 7 micron filter is due to the better detergent in the LSD. So Since I only can buy LSD, should I switch to the 7 micron filter?

I running out the tank of bioside before the filter change. I did my first shock treatment of 1 1/2 oz to kill them all.

The filter I picked up at the dealer was a different # than the last time, so I beleve he sold me the better 7 micron one. I got hosed on the price and want to pick up a few online. I am thinking of getting the 7 micron ones.

I fave a fass pump so I souldn't see any additional pressure drop, right? I don't drive a lot so shorter change intervals would not be an issue, even if that is the case.

I just want to protect my new blue chip special x pump with as much insurance... . better filter, as I can.

Since I replaced the problematic oem lift pump my next order from genos will have 7 micron filters instead of 10. They're only a buck more.

I've been running a 5 micron Hastings filter in my '01. I monitor fuel pressure at the inlet to the VP44 and I have yet to see less than 10 psi (@WOT) with my current setup. After comparing the physical dimensions on Hastings' website, I emailed them for the micron ratings of the filters listed for 98. 5-02 and 03-07 trucks.

FF1160 is for 2nd gen and FF1260 is for 3rd gen

Hastings' response:

FF1160 has a 1 or a 2 nominal with a 10 absolute micron rating

FF1260 has a 1 or a 2 nominal with a 5 absolute micron rating.

I started running the 5 micron filter when I changed to 80 HP injectors, so I'm not sure exactly how much the tighter filter influenced my WOT fuel psi. Cruising numbers have not changed at all. I change my fuel filter at 5K intervals and have yet to see any change in filter restriction.

I would only run the tighter filter if you monitor your fuel pressure after the filter. Just my $0. 02.

I have just the pump, no filter/seperator. I do a pre-screen with a napa #3553 before the pump, then to oem filter canister to do the finial job. The 2553 looks like a regulat fuel filter but it is not filled with pleated paper but with a fine mesh screen.

I use a 7 micron for the primary filter and a 2 micron seconday filter with a fuel pressure gauge after the second filter so that I can see the pressure drop due to the filters getting full.
