I have the factory installed 7 pin conector on the rear of my truck. I have been looking to place on in the bed for my goose neck I will be buying. Anybody just made a harness you can run over the tailgate or am I better off just splicing in and mounting one on the bed. I pull a bummper pull 3 horse trailer and a 12,000 lb equitment trailer more than anything else.

Not sure how your gooses are wired, but my plug is long enough to drap over the tailgate. You can go to any trailer store and pick up a lengthe of 7 wire and a male and female plug to make an extension if needed. I think that would be the easiest and should only cost $20-30. Splicing the harness will be a PITA because there is not a lot of room. Just my $. 02 :).

Thanks I was thinking of doing that just wanted to see how it would work. I have the 7 to 6 adaptor. I want to be able to hook up to anything.

Ken,

I just bought one of these this weekend. You wouldn't happen to have snapped some pictures of were you spliced do you?

12v run from the battery with additional isolator ? Or splice in the rear?

Brake control wire?

7 Pin jumper cable

I Too pull a gooseneck. I bought a jumper (extension cable) to go from the Bumper 7 pin outlet, up in the bed and then plug in the gooseneck. The RV Dealer told me that in some states this was not legal and would could get pulled over. I have pulled with the extension from New York to Iowa 3 times and back, many troopers have passed me, never a problem. Does anyone know if this is true, and what states is it not legal.
