7-way plug colors question?

on my 01 ,with the towing package,i installed a 7 way plug in the bed side. wasn't sure which wires to splice into at the frame so i've been running a long length of 7 wire with a male plug on the end and connecting in the plug under the bumper. anyone got the color codes so i can splice it in right below where i put the plug in the bed? i could do it with a test light but figured this would be easier. thanks

I have a hard time with the electrical dwgs. but it looks like on 99 3500 it is:#1 Ground, black #2 elect. brakes, lt. blue. #3, tail lights, bk. /or. #4, 12v charge line, rd. /or. #5, lt. turn, dg. /rd. #6, rt. turn, br. /rd. #7, backup, vt. /bk. bg

Hey, Stop by the Potline tool crib in the morning before you get off, I'll give you the paper so you can get a better look at the 7-way connector wiring diagram. I will be there about 05:45.

Let me know what you find out so I can do it also. I've just been running an additional cord I made up from two plugs, between the trailer connector and the hitch plug, using a bungi chord to keep tension on cord.

i found it in the set of 01 service manuals i have(the big books)

overlooked it the last time i checked it. lots & lots of wiring diagrams in there.



right turnlug is brown-truck is brown/red

left turn : plug is red- truck is dark green/red

back up lamp : plug is yellow- truck is violet/black

brakes : plug is blue-truck is light blue

ground : plug is white-truck is black

charge 12v+ : plug is black- truck is red/orange

lights/parking : plug is green- truck is black/orange



plug is: 7 pin from the camper

truck is : colors of wires that run to the truck plug from the factory

Go by function rather than color codes... DC seems to be color blind at times regardless of what the book shows!
