My truck is a 94 model and I am wondering the internal difference between the old pump like mine and the hot rod pump on the 98? Mine had 151 delivery valves and I changed them out for the 191s. Are the differences in these pumps changeable?

Thanks

Michael

The 215 pumps (referred to as "race pump" hereafter) have different plunger/barrel assemblies. The plungers have some built in advance, larger delivery valves as you stated above and a different camshaft. The race pump also has a some differences in the gov.

Most 5 speed trucks from 96-98 have the 913 or 887 injection pump. Except the California trucks have the smaller 180HP pump=YUK!

Hi Don,

I also have a 94 2500 5 speed, does that mean my pump cannot be made to perform at those levels? Or can I modify mine to the higher specs?

Inquiring minds want to know?

Thanks

George

Oh yeah, they can be modified or changed. You can make the little pump perform as well with dollars. New plungers/barrels, change the cam profile (Piers is doing this), Larger delivery valves,

etc.

Depending on how high you wanna go, the little pump can be modified to get you there. The "race pump" from the factory is just easier and less bucks to get there.

Cord Reynolds (cumminsgetme) dynoed a '94 160 HP pump with factory plungers/barrels, 191 DV's, 4k gsk and a few other minor tweaks to 423HP last December.

Don't think these pumps are push overs. Don't believe half of what you read about them. :)
