Words of a Retired Marine

Airman's Response to Stupid Cindy Williams

The President and Tom Ridge are requesting that people be prepared in the event of an attack.

Whats in your 72 hour emergency bag?

Have you got one yet ... for each person in your family?

Have you got "personal security devices" with you in your emergency bag?

What's your plan if there is a terrorist attack in your area?

Where are you and your family, relatives going to rendezvous at?

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lets get some suggestions posted here!

Emergency Bag

8,000 rounds of assorted ammo, 3 packs of smokes and a full fuel tank for the Ram. Yup, I'm prepared.

Seriously never thought about it.

"Duct Tape" now has a new name acording to a CBS news report this morning.

"HomeLand Security in a Roll" That and of course sealing ALL your windows and doors with plastic in the event of an attack.

Gee ya thing "Homeland Security" missed something again and thats why the furry of new advice?

Almost Forgot ...

Thanks Nixter for reminding me about smokes ... .

I'll need at least 9 cigars in my pack ... hell, I'll just throw a whole bundle in the bag and fill up my Zippo with fuel. :D

Where's the oxygen?

How many people will die from CO2 poison if they do seal up a room with duct tape and plastic. But on the other hand if your room is sealed up and your central heat fan comes on, you've been gassed.

I'm glad I live in the rural area.

Where does it end?

I hope it is just propaganda.

I couldn't seal the house tight enough to eliminate the so whatever happens - happens.

Now - Back to digging the bomb shelter with a self contained air/food/water system.

This is incredible. Sealing the house up is OK if you plan on never opening up the door. As soon as the front door is open, Antharx spores and other Chem bio agents will blow right in.

I think I will be safer overseas in Scud alley. At least I have more NBC gear than I can carry.

btw... This deployment must be getting to me. When I saw the title of this thread I was thinking 3 day pass and a hooker

Just last month I bought 500 rounds for the AR-15. Also keep $1000 cash in the gun safe. If you got $$ and a gun you are set.

Can't really see the need for a bag, if the terrorists do something near by, by the time you even go to leave it will be too late.

Besides, I live in Alaska, its too cold up here for them terrorists. :D

I also live close to a nuclear reactor, here in the Northeast. Each year I am sent a calendar with emergency instructions on what to do when told to “Shelter-in-place” or if more serious, “Evacuate”. Some of the information might be good to pass on.

Shelter-in-place:

Go indoors and close all doors and windows.

Turn off window fans, AC, clothes dryers, kitchen and bath exhaust fans, and other sources of outside air.

Keep pets indoors.

If you have livestock, shelter them too. Give them stored feed and water from a covered source.

Stay inside until officials say otherwise. If you must go outside, cover your nose and mouth with a folded damp cloth.

If you are traveling in a motor vehicle, close the windows and air vents and turn off the heater.

Do not use your telephone unless you need special assistance.

The list did not include food and beverage but I keep a several day supply on hand.

Evacuate:

Gather all persons in the house together.

Do not try to pick up children at their schools.

Household members outside the area may be advised not to return during the evacuation.

Do not call your local fire or police departments for information.

If you have livestock, shelter them. Leave them a three-day supply of stored feed and water that has been protected from possible contamination.

Some things to take with you:

Clothing for several days.

Toilet articles (soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, etc. )

Prescription medicines, medical equipment and important medical records.

Special dietary foods.

Baby supplies.

Blankets, pillows, and towels.

Identification and important papers.

Checkbook, credit cards, and cash.

I also keep my tank full with a couple of extra jerry cans filled with diesel

Forgot one

Everybody forgot one thing, "bend over and kiss your bu!!s goodbye. " Yes, sir we are all going to shoot it out with a invisible chemical agent. We are all going to be safe if we put duck tape and plastic on all the windows, yea right. If we have plenty of bottled water and the resevoir is posioned, we might last a couple of weeks more, while we watch everybody else die off.

The truth is folks, that the Homeland security people don't have a clue on how to protect this nation. It is a bigger job than we can realize. We are going from a free nation with borders that were not guarded to a scared nation thats borders cannot be guarded or plugged up in one or two years (talk about isolation). Whether we like it or not, we have terror cells right here in the states sitting and waiting for the guts to attack us. If we think they will attack when we have a yellow or red alert going, we are saddly mistaken. I have been through this before, they hit when you don't expect it. Now is everyone scared?

The good thing, they are under extreme pressure, not enough, but extreme. Everyone in the world is watching for them, this makes it rough to plan and execute a attack. They are hidden in areas that we know and are contained to a point. Our enemy is not a whole country and cannot be destroyed with conventional weaponry, but with intel, smaller forces, and education. It has been proven many times that a conventional force cannot defeat a guerilla force, yet some feel helpless unless we see Armys attacking something (our present administration) .

The USA will survive this to. But I am afraid that many will be enlightened with a large POP, when they pull their heads out of their &^%$s. It will take many, many years and my great grandchildren will have to bear the weight of our mistakes today. Sorry kids..... I didn't do it... ...
