727 and 518 Valve body ?'s

My truck has 727 3 speed trans in it I installed a shift kit already. I have a 518 o/d non lockup I want to install. Can I swap the shift kit valve body in the 518? I think I can , but I'm not sure. supposedly they are the same trans but different tail housing for the o/d.

I want to swap a tighter but not expensive convertor too, and the better aftermarket flex plate any tips on best to pick?

I don't think the valve bodies will swap, the valve body controls the Overdrive with an electric solenoid, I believe it's part of the valve body.

I have a PDR flexplate. Can't say on the less expensive torque converters but you can't go wrong with a DTT one.
