Map lamp?

Can anyone tell me the correct part number for the auto trans dipstick for a 1990 D250? The dipstick that came with the truck when I bought it last year is part #4428477 and is 17.5" long below the rubber stopper. PO said to run it about 1 1/2 qts low so it wouldn't leak. The truck runs fine like that, but I have no way of knowing the status of the fluid unless I fill it up and let it leak down to the level that just barely shows on the stick. Any suggestions out there? I ran a longer, oil pan dipstick down the tube to measure, and the bottom of the stock transmission pan is approx. 2" below the bottom of the current transmission dipstick. Thanks in advance.

The 518 auto should be the same dip stick as they are both a version of a 727let me check to see what I have a extra of .

Yep, I'm fixing the leak, it is from the linkage. Just not sure if I have the correct dipstick since the transmission works just fine with almost no fluid showing on the dipstick when checking the fluid when the engine is hot. Yes, I check with engine running trans in neutral. When cold, engine off, fluid shows well above the full mark.

I see, I misunderstood your question, I thought you wanted to find a longer dipstick so you could continue to monitor your fluid level while staying 1.5 quarts low.

Sorry for the confusion. I wanted to know if I had the correct dipstick, as I find it unusual for the transmission to function correctly with such a low reading on the dipstick. Thanks....
