Archived 727d4 troubles

I have a 1990 w250 with automatic, after 500k the original 727d4 just wore out. I replaced it with rebuilt transmission from accurate transmissions. Rebuilt wore out in 12 months, accurate sent me a new one, now 12 months later, my transmission has quit again. Is there an upgraded transmission I can buy for my old gen1?

The 727 is a pretty easy trans to rebuild, and there's so many performance upgrades available for them. I'd find a local guy to do it. Ask your local repair shop who they'd take their tow truck to if it needed a trans. If the first one lasted 500k miles, the rebuilt should go that long, unless your cooler is plugged. Do you have a trans temp gauge on it?

Ive checked around to have local rebuild, quoted " around $1800 ". What I have been hoping to find Is a beefier replacement, capable of more torque. is there such an animal out there?
