She Won't Start!!! Need Help!!!!!!

Greetings all!!!

I'm soooo excited!! Oo. Oo.

Just bought my 73 Ford HI-boy and am looking for anyone out there that has done a conversion on this era Ford truck. I understand that I'm going to have to modify my front cross-member a bit.

Any other tips?

I found a gem and I'm happier than a pig in poo. :D:D:D:D

Thanks for the reply... . and, nice job!

I've found a 99 24V donor truck that I'm going to be able to get all the goodies out of... engine, transmission, t-case. Wiring harness - the whole enchalada! Oo. Many thanks to JCrockett!!:D:cool:

I've been talking to FordCummins.com guys and they've so far been pretty helpful. I understand that I've got to get different mounting plates for the AC compressor; other than that, engine mounts and some wiring and I'm in there.

I'm going to post photo's of the conversion over the winter.

Update!!!

Hey everyone -

I want to post some pics of my conversion... . but I can't figure out how to resize my photo's! When I do, I'll post them.

I just dig this stuff - Monster Garage!!!!

The old Fords are nice rigs. Once you figure out the pic posting, lets see some of the the truck.

A buddy gave me a '72 high boy F250 with a 390 4 gear. I considered a conversion but I've got enough projects on the go. Mines gonna be project cheap truck for now, head gaskets and a valve job on the motor to get it going. Throw a couple cherry bombs in the exhaust and runn'er.

Good luck on your project, I'll be following this one for sure.

You need to create a readers Rig gallery, load your pics in that, then post the link onto your thread post. I can give you a hand with it sometime.

Looking good when I stopped by the other night:cool:

Hey Bud, I used to have a 72 Fabuluous Off-Road Devise, F-250 4X4,7700 lb GVW rated with the wet knuckle front axle and large hubs. It was a 4 wheelin' monster and lasted me better than 22 years. My first truck! Does yours have the Dana-24 Transfer case? I was no longer able to get parts for mine and the transmission was on its way out, Again. The body was rusted and the engine ( 360, rebuilt twice) was not getting any better. Bought it new in November, 1971, sold it in 1993. Greg

You talkin' to me?:D. Not sure what xfer case I have. It's divorced is all I know.

Here's a good forum for old Ford info Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums - Ford truck and SUV owners and enthusiasts Community And Information Source.

I've been hanging out there a little lately. Some real fanatics over there which comes in handy for that information you can't seem to find anywhere else.

I'm talkin to anyone who wants to listen:D:-laf. Be careful of the u-bolts around the spring stacks on the rear axle. Busted some on rough climbs. Greg

AlaskeCummins, Pictures are outstanding. I really like that hugemungous cross member. Looks like you got to do some serious rod burning and fabrication. Greg

Alright Wayne I am bumping this for you in hopes you will update everyone and show some photos of your progress! It is looking good, you need to show it off to our fellow TDR members:D

Can't wait for the "start er up" party:-laf

count me in

I would like to be there for the start up party too. I would consider bringing the 72 as long as the roads were not ice. There is nothing better than the first time you fire it up and get to take it for a drive. I waited until the bitter end to fire it up because I knew once it was running I would want to drive it. I figured it better move on its own power because the wife would not like pushing.

Keep us posted

Huuuge update!!!

I've been quite the busy beaver over the last two months or so and finally got an update completed (thanks to the nudge from JCrockett). So, without any further adue here are a whole bunch of new pics! :D:D:cool:

Enjoy the pics and if anyone has any questions, please ask!

Bump back to top - new photo's loaded today.

I just got the rear bumper done, and hopefully I'll get the front one done tomorrow. Depends on what the wife wants to do! Oo.

Basically, I've only got the front bumper, finish the FASS install, interior (sound deadening, carpet, seals and seat) wiring and I should be able to start her up.

What's so cool is that I'm living a dream and doing it within a budget that I can afford. I'd love to rebuild everything and have it "zero mile" when I drive her, but reality is that this is fun no matter what.

If anyone out there is contemplating doing a conversion, just keep in mind that it's a helluva lot of fun and a huge undertaking. Don't give up!!!

Wayne ;)

Well you better get some more info up here and photos. I enjoyed taking a ride in the Fummins this last weekend. :D

Can't wait to go Cruzin'... ... ... . just have to get the front end fixed on mine:rolleyes:
