OK, long stupid story short. Did transmission fluid change (with ATF+4). Drove it. Went to top it off. Grabbed gear oil. 2-3 ounces of gear oil in transmission now. How bad is this? Will it cause clutch slip? GRRRR!#@$%! STUPID STUPID STUPID!

I would say it won't hurt it.

BUT, I'd check to see if it is for limited slip diffs! If it has the friction modifier it is not good. Question is, is that enough to cause harm.

Don't beat yourself up too bad AMink... . I saw the perfect excuse in your signature... . Just tell everyody that you had a temporary lapse of memory and thought you were changing the transmission oil in your Polaris!!. . (for those who don't know, they use the same oil in trans and diffs. ) I don't know if it would hurt it, but I kinda look at it like this; it might be $100 worth of fluid and filter, or $4000 for an overhaul. If you're like me and just waiting on the 48re to crash so I can make some upgrades, now might be the perfect time to have an "unexpected" failure.

Went and had the fluid changed. I asked them if it would hurt the transmission and got "probably not". I can't chance that "probably" part. Nevada is a big place and most of it is a long way from anywhere. $120 for piece of mind. And now children, what have we learned from Andy's stupid mistake?

If you didn't start it or take it out of park then all you need to do is drain it, wipe out the pan and refill.

That would have been the simple way. Alas, I am not a simple guy. :-laf Of course I started and ran it. :{ We'll see how it goes.
