8.3 Cummins vs. DT466

What would you guys build if trying to set up a strong medium duty towrig - a C8. 3 or an Int. DT466/530 ?



What pump does the DT466 use? I know it's been used in tractor pulling apps, right - so there's probably more mods available for it.



I'm thinking medium duty truck, extra fuel, twins, heavier duty clutch - 600 hp / 1500 ft-lbs torque...

Go with the Cummins 8. 3. IT is a much more robust design and has a better fuel system than the electronic 466-530-570 that use the HEUI injection system (same as the Powerstroke). As you can see from my sig I do pull a IH tractor with a IH dt 466, and have had excellent sucess with it. I just do not consider the two engines to be in the same class.
