Honda Moves Into Diesel Production

Diesel Powered Artificial Heart?

My brother and I were talking the other day and we came up with question... ... . Did the C8. 3 ever have a rotary pump simular to the ve44??

Jim

The ISC actually has what Cummins calls the CAPS pump,

( Cummins, Accumulator,Pump, System, or something like that) It is actually manufactured by Cummins , unlike the VP-44. The theory of its operation is similar to common rail but without the electronic injectors. I believe the ISC and ISL will come out with common rail in 03 or 04.

The CAPS pump has not proven too reliable, but I think they may have it under control now.

The 8. 3l ISC is no longer sold for on-road and being replaced by the 8. 9l ISL. Both use the Cummins CAPS injection system. It is NOT a common or high pressure rail system. It is similar to the Bosch VP series. CAPS has an integral fuel pump so the lift pump only operates the first 90 seconds.

The prior series 8. 3 used the same P7100 pump as the 94-98. 5 12 valve. I'm not sure on the older models.
