Just checking in to see if any of you have had an issue with your 8.4" screens booting up very slowly. On my 2014, I have about 76K and after the latest firmware update my radio/hvac controller (screen) did, it has been getting slower and slower booting up. Sometimes it can take almost a minute to come up after flashing the RAM logo. Makes it tough to back up without the monitor! (first world issue I know) I think that last firmware update has made it have issues and if so, I want to go back to the last version. Anyone else have an issue like this?
I did check the batteries and one was down to about 84% charge and the other was at 92%. They are the X2 AGM Deep Cycle type batteries my dad bought about 4 years ago. I charged the batteries and it seemed to have made things a it more responsive but I'm not sure.
Anyone have any experience with this?
Thanks!

Too add further ,yes the Ram Logo would remain as I was backing out of the garage, no backup screen for probably close to a minute before the camera worked .. That all went away with new batteries.

Mine has been doing the same thing lately......It started when the weather got colder, I leave in the early AM and if its below 45deg or so, it takes a bit for the radio to wake up. When I sleep in on the weekends, it doesn't do it if its warmer. I just did the 8.4 update and it still does it. Also, I just put in new AGM batteries and it still does it so doesn't look like a battery issue......

With his four year old batteries most likely thats his problem. My truck that last day when I jumped it to start it before the new batteries , the radio didn't work at all, no bluetooth nothing. It went about 30 miles before things starting working. It started up after shutting it down, but the next morning ,no start. Installed new batteries that day, all back to normal.

My sons 2016 did the same thing for a week or so before he put in new batteries, and back to normal now. His did its thing about a month before mine .

I didn't see OP signature, so not sure if remote start is an option. I use mine and a minute isn't too long. Let us know what y'all who are having delays find.

Well I went in and had the batteries tested and both were bad! I have never had two go bad at the same time but OK. these were $260 each but they were both replaced under the 5 year warranty. 8.4 Display is back to normal. Lesson learned. If your display starts acting up...check your batteries....even though the truck is starting up just fine, low battery output will screw with your display.

So I went and had the batteries tested where we bought them and BOTH were bad. These are the X2 Power Deep Cycle/Starting AGM Batteries that run about $259 bucks a pop! Luckily, they have a 5 year free replacement warranty and they were both in year 4. New batteries and no more display issues. Lesson: If your display starts acting up, have the batteries properly load tested to see if they are still good. They may start the truck just fine but the display is very sensitive to your battery strength.
Related item...they never tested my alternator and with two dead batteries, that will be next on the list to check just to make sure it's not the real culprit.

I know our factory batteries are maintenance free but when I replaced mine last year I found them to be very dry. I’m wondering if I had popped the caps and topped them off with distilled water would they have made a comeback....

I doubt you could have rejuvenated them, but if you had pried them off years earlier, you might could have gone longer. A guy I knew who sold batteries told me maintenance free for lead acid type meant you couldn't add water. The way I understood it, wet batteries all lose water... problem was/is, many folks ever filled them and had problems when they leaked through the vents. Anyhoo, that's been my experience.
